A conservative legal group has filed a civil rights complaint against Northern Illinois University for its Black Student Achievement and Black Male Initiative programs.
Similar things going on in Los Angeles targeting a Black student achievement program. Too bad the U.S. Department of Education, Office for Civil Rights has become an untrustworthy, politicized, and reactive agency.
Wow. This is exactly what’s been going on at my school, University of Alabama. SB-129 is a bill that was passed last year that aims to do to black student organizations on UA’s campus exactly what an organization like Equal Protection Project is doing to NIU’s black student organizations.
There is absolutely nothing wrong with organizations on campuses, particularly PWI’s, that cater to the needs and concerns of black students. This is true for any other minority group of students as well!
Programs like BMI and BRIDGE (an organization at my school that essentially serves the same purpose as BMI) have clearly evident success rates.
It says so much about conservatives who aim to eliminate or alter programs like those. Absolutely shameful and unnecessary.
I love Stacy Abrams description of DEI:
DEI are the core values of this country:
Diversity;
Is all people
Equity;
access to opportunity
Inclusion;
a pathway for all Americans
They're coming at us from all different directions! We need to keep an eye out!
I'm so glad they have their paperwork together. But the amount of resources to fight this nonsense is intended to shut them down regardless smdh....
