That White artist is wrong for Douglass portrait (a) because of the wannabe Kehinde Wiley of it all and (b) because as is so often the case White people cannot “read” the culture correctly: his sneakers would NEVER be dingy and dirty. Not ever. And he would not pair those with a suit. Same for--especially for “the youth” the mural is said to appeal to. It’s so annoying.
